A Tribute to Our Horses
This is a very special page - a tribute to horses past and present. Stories and photos of horses that have enriched our lives.
Socks came from PA and into our lives in 1991. After a few broken halters, I learned she always had to stand in the same stall year after year - not one stall this way or that way. She knew which stall was hers. Suddenly and very naturally, at the age of 28, she left for greener pastures in May of 2006, leaving behind her 2 week old colt (Legacy). Over the years she has given me many daughters and granddaughters that I am proud to have in my herd.
Spike was purchased at the age of 3 in 1991. It was a very sad day in the fall of 2006 that I had to have her laid to rest due to cancerous tumours. She acquired her name when she was spending time with us while we were putting rails on the fence and she picked the box of spikes up in her teeth and swung it a few times spreading spikes all over the ground. She was ruled by her stomach, a trait which she passed on to many of her foals. I am grateful to have 2 of her foals which are now mares in my herd - Staples and Nails! They have the same kind, loving nature that their mother was known for. Spike, it was a pleasure.
